Many South Africans ahead of the British and Irish lions tour were hoping for the Springbok centurion to return as their kicker . However the Springbok management had different plans for Percy. Instead of playing fullback and being the actual kicker he will the kicking coach for the Springboks.
I was privileged to wear the jersey as a player and now have the opportunity to continue my association with the team in a different capacity,

From watching the Bulls and Sharks in the Super 14 who are both are experts of tactical kicking. Zane Kirchner has a massive boot on him and Ruan Pienaar it also great with his boot. I think that Percy and Ruan will mostly work on the goal kicking as Ruan has not been the first choice kicker for his super 14 team but has been nominated to kick for the Boks in the Lions tour.
Steyn can also kick from long distances and score drop goals from the side line (on a good day). However he is in a race against time to be fit for the test series. One wonders if Rory Kockott will get a place in the Springbok squad. He has had a really great Super 14 and he has a good record with his boot for the Sharks.
