Rugby World Cup Betting Tips!

Fancy a Bet on this years Rugby World Cup?

Outright Betting:
In most people’s eyes there’s only one possible outcome for this year’s Rugby World Cup. At 2/5 New Zealand are strong favorites but no matter what the price there’ll be plenty of takers. Are things really so clean cut? Yeah probably but it’s when you least expect something to happen that it inevitably does..sometimes. Australia’s comeback win in the tri-nations at least shows that the All Blacks are human and although they were a man up when they scored the crucial tries, the Wallabies at 9/1 is a very enticing price. South Africa pushed New Zealand close in the same competition and justified their tag as second favorites in the betting. The Springboks at 11/2 will see its fair share of betting action. Elsewhere in the betting France could make the most of home advantage and 10/1 for the hosts could prove a very big price when the medals are handed out. Ireland at 14/1 is another decent outside shot but they’ll need to avoid injuries and rely on a bit of luck if they are to lift the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Group Betting:

Pool A:

On the face of it this looks a pretty easy pool to predict. South Africa are clear favourites to finish on top with England looking as sure a bet to take second place. With Samoa, Tonga and the USA filling out the rest of the places the only shock that could possibly be in store is England causing a shock by beating the Springboks but don’t put too much faith in this happening. South Africa to win Pool A at 1/3 and England to come second at 4/9. Place your bet for the winner of Pool A at Paddy Power

Pool B:

Another fairly straightforward pool. Although the prices for Australia and Wales are closer than those of South Africa and England, the Aussies should cruise through to top Pool B at 2/5. The fact that the tournament is being played in Europe could give the Welsh a slight boost and a surprise win over Australia could be worth a small punt. Fiji, Canada and Japan should make sure they get out and see the Eiffel Tower and other such French landmarks before the quarter-final stages, they’ll be watching these games from home. Place your bets for Pool B at PaddyPower.com

Pool C:

Now this one should be interesting. Despite their less than convincing performances in the Tri-Nations New Zealand are still far too good for anyone in Pool C. The truth is the Kiwis are too good for anyone but inexplicably falling to pieces in a World Cup year has become a worrying habit, one which they’ll be desperate to break. The main battle in this pool looks to be between Scotland and Italy. The Italians impressive win at Murrayfield in this year’s Six Nations makes their 11/10 price to top Pool C without New Zealand a very tempting one. New Zealand could suffer an absolute nightmare, it’s highly unlikely but there’s enough of a doubt about their World Cup credentials to have a small bet on either Italy at 20/1 or Scotland at 16/1 to end up winners of Pool C. Place your bet here!

Pool D:

If Pool C has the possibility of creating some early interest Pool D all but guarantees it. Six Nations winners France will look to make the most of home advantage but the presence of Ireland and Argentina in their pool means even progressing isn’t a sure thing, let alone topping the pool. Ireland, with all their stars fit and on form, have realistic aspirations of winning the 2007 World Cup at 14/1. It would take plenty of luck and inspiring performances on the way but nobody will be dismissing their chances. Argentina lack the creativity to hold such lofty hopes but getting out of the pool is definitely within their capabilities, which would mean one of the stronger teams in the tournament missing out. Backing the Pumas at 7/4 to win Pool D without France could prove a very shrewd bet especially if Ireland carry any injury doubts into the tournament. Place your bets for the pool of death as it has been dubbed here.
