RWC Quarter Final: Australia vs England

Our first quarter final for the RWC 2007 will be a replay of the 2003 final.

Australia:
This years RWC highest try scorer Drew Mitchell has been left out of the starting line up. Adam Ashley-Cooper will be taking Mitchell’s place on the wing in the quarter final clash against England. Stirling Mortlock will be returning from his shoulder injury and will take his place at no 13. Berrick Barnes will be playing in the number 10 jersey. George Gregan will also be in the starting line up after being rested against Canada.
Starting Line up Australia:

England:
Good news for England is that Jason Robinson will be returning to the starting line up after he suffered a hamstring injury against the Springboks. This will be Robinson’s 49th test match and could very well be his final in international rugby if England fail. Andy Farrell has been ruled out with a strained calf muscle. Englands forward pack will be looking to dominate over the Auzzies however Phil Vickery has warned that it will be no easy task.
Starting Line Up England:
J Robinson
P Sackey

my comment on the New Zealand vs France game!

This game was utter rubbish, they talk about how the French played with spirit and had
all the luck on their side. Well that luck is called the ref. Not calling off sides, taking 3 minutes to see if the try Rodney did was a try, sending Luke McAllister off which was crap and then just pulling the Im a the big ref what I say goes crap!

I am angry because not because Im am a New Zealander who has written this just because we lost, but that the fact is that the ref just turned the blind eye on any french plays and pulled the kiwis up for all of theres.

Where does this guys come off, where did he do he referee skills from the back of a wheet- bix box. I feel that he shouldnt be a ref at all.

If in the history of rugby had an Idiot been selected to ref a game, he should have at least been even with his crap calls. As far as I am concerned The all backs are Still number 1
and there is nothing anyone can say about that.

Some good points here. I think it’s easy to get bogged down in the details - at the end of the day, in the world cup it’s the overall team cohesion that often makes the difference.

What I love about the rwc is that the lesser rugby nations can chance their arm against the best in the world. There’s been talk of dropping the number of teams in the tournemant to 16 but I think results have shown that that would be a mistake. Unless sides like Tonga, Australia, Fiji, and New Zeeland have a chance to run out against the better sides, their players will never learn.
