Sharks Out Barritt Out Cold

Starting the Super 14 as favorites the Sharks loss this weekend leaves them in 6th place on the log with one game against the Blue Bulls. This means that their hopes of winning the tournament are over. The Waratahs managed to keep the home team tryless with a real gutsy defense. JP Peterson and Bismak Duplessis both went over the try line but were not awarded the tries.

Brett Sheehan will be appearing before a citing commission after his late, high, shoulder charge on Brad Barritt which left him unconscious. Have a look at the vid below and leave your comment.

I can’t really imagine a tackle more dangerous than that. And I’m being serious – Barritt is lucky to be walking around today. Sheehan actually put his life in danger here.

I will expect something INCREDIBLY harsh – and justified – if SANZAR want to set an example here. That is was not intentional is a mockery of the sport itself; and it shows exactly how The Waratahs play, and where their sportsmanship attitude lies.

Can you get fined for this sort of thing?

Most people are saying that a 3 week ban will be inforced. Good question about the fine. Not sure what the deal is with that.

Yeah – saw this. Looked accidental to me.
    And immediately apologised.

Meh – it’s rugby – these things happen.

Storm in a molehill – or whatever, but they’ll probably ban him forever or something equally dramatic.
