Surprize Victory For The Wallabies
Published July 2nd, 2007 in .Melbourne was to be the setting for the biggest upset in the Tri Nations so far. Australia who was pretty much considered no hopers for this years Tri Nations stood up to the plate and defeated the All Blacks on home ground making the whole Tri Nations wide open. All teams have the same amount of points at this stage.
As we have seen in all this years Tri Nations games the winners came from behind. The All Blacks had put them in a very good position of 6-15 at half time. Referee Marius Jonker (South Africa) sin binned Carl Hayman for repeated infringing. The Wallabies took full advantage of this and scored 2 tries in Mr Hayman’s absence. Replacement Scott Staniforth went over the All Blacks line in the 72nd min for the second try and the All Blacks did not manage to score after that. Stirling Mortlock took full advantage of McAlister playing slightly out of position and he was voted Man of the Match.
This victory does not only show that Australia is defiantly a worthy contender for the world cup but it has also shown that the All Blacks can be defeated. The last time Australia beat New Zealand was in Sydney 2004. The All Blacks will most defiantly try to learn there faults and improve on them. Well Done Aussie’s! Another great game from the Tri Nations.
