Weekend Round-Up
Published June 4th, 2007 in .Many games this weekend and a lot to chat about.
New Zealand 42 France 11
The Kiwi’s did their job on Saturday however it has been reported that it was an average performance. As i said last week before the game, it is the first test of the season that they will be playing together and under a different coach to their super 14 team. I do not see these tests being any indication of how the All Black team will play come RWC time. The French team who were missing many star players due to club commitments played with heart and fought to the end, respect! All black fans has a slight scare when Macaw and Carter were kept off the field in the second half. This however was only due to bumps and bruises.
South Africa 55 England 22
South Africa seemed to be wanting to make the game hard for themselves. Letting England have the lead for the first half thanks to many mistakes by the Boks. However they came out fighting in the end and scored six tires. This match was set to be a slaughter however I think that the English team for this tour can go home and know they did the best they could with the team they had. Well done South Africa for 2 - 0 win over the English and well done England for showing fighting sprits in tough times.
Australia 31 Wales 0
Australia managed to shut the critics up after last weekend’s win over the Welsh team. I myself was expecting a close game however the Wallabies stepped it up and did the job. Well done.
Argentina 16 Ireland 0
I truly believe that this game would of had a very different end if Ireland’s Jeremy Staunton had of kicked over his 3 penalty attempts before the first half. This when Bryan Young was held up seemed to put the Irish in a downward spiral. The Pumas Contempomi got himself a try which was converted and then 3 penalty kicks sealed the Irelands fate. It seems that seat covers are the way to celebrate a try in Buenos Aires.
